History
In 1862, a company known as Burgess & Leigh took over a small pottery factory in Stoke-on-Trent, England that had been in business since 1851. Five generations of potters saw the family business blossom to include worldwide trade in the 19th century. Creating some of the most acclaimed Victorian and Art Deco pieces in the early 1900s, Burgess & Leigh became known as premier designers in the field. Suffering through recessions in the 1990s, the company was bought by the Dorlings who renamed the company Burgess, Dorling & Leigh in 1999. They are committed to restoring and preserving the traditional skills of pottery making that earned Burgess & Leigh its worldwide reputation for the finest.
