Cafe Assistant Manager


The Cafe Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the Cafe Manager for the overall sales, profitability, guest service, operations, and inventory management for the cafe. Responsibilities include supervising and motivating the Cafe team, providing inspiration to drive sales and exceed guest service expectation through coaching, providing effective feedback and reward and recognizing accomplishments. The Cafe Assistant Manager will promote a fun and positive work environment that fosters open communication, encourages teamwork and inspires creativity.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Ensure adequate staffing to cover all shifts through effective scheduling, recruitment, orientation and training practices and effectively manage employee turnover
  • Resolve guest problems or complaints by determining optimal solutions
  • Help manage Cafe budget and operating expenses, including supplies and payroll costs, margin and scrap goals and analyze variances to initiate corrective actions
  • Assist Cafe Manager with development and training of staff to ensure a high level of service and motivation
  • Manage Cafe revenue, including proper cash handling, deposit reconciliation and delivery of deposits to bank
  • Maintain the stability and reputation of the Company by complying with legal requirements. Protect employees and guests by providing a safe and clean Cafe environment and ensure that ServSafe practices are being enforced
  • Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays


Skills:
  • Customer focused with 3-5 years restaurant experience with at least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal health and sanitation laws with ServSafe certification a plus
  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office preferred)
  • Results driven with strong organizational, time management, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Must be creative, flexible and adaptable to change
