The Lead Prep Assistant is responsible for enhancing the Guest experience by instructing Cooking Classes in our Cooking School or by supporting visiting chefs while maintaining a safe, orderly, sanitized kitchen.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Work closely with the Cooking School Chef instructor for creating profitable, interesting menus for own classes or assist recipe preparation for guest chefs' menus
- Serve as a role model for cooking school associates by making the guest experience the priority and utilizing G.U.E.S.T. guidelines each and every shift
- Demonstrate proper safe food handling techniques, and hold others accountable for doing the same
- Place food and supply orders as directed
- Receive product by verifying invoice and freshness of product
- Effectively perform all operational functions including but not limited to POS procedures- opening and closing Cooking School, class sales, product sales, inventory management, etc
- Assist the Cooking School Manager in maintaining visual standards including merchandise and food presentation, signage, lighting and general maintenance
- Assist in overseeing wages and food costs to budgetary requirements
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Culinary training or 2 years working in food preparation
- Professional written and oral communication skills and comfortable speaking before a large group while providing hands on cooking demonstrations
- Good organizational skills and ability to effectively solve problems
- Awareness of local health, state and federal health and sanitation laws
- Basic math skills and computer literate (Microsoft Office and Excel a must)
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, stand several hours and climb ladders
