Avon is a picturesque New England village that grew up along the wooded banks of the Farmington River in Connecticut. Avon was incorporated as a separate town in 1830, and took its name from the Avon River in England. At that time it had three hotels, harness, carriage and blacksmith shops and several stores. The Town Seal of Avon has the Towpath Canal as its central theme, which reflects Avon's early importance as an inland water port.

Merge onto I-84 West via Exit 9 toward US-20/Sturbridge/Hartford. Take the US-44 West Exit 50 toward I-91 South. Stay Straight and go onto US-44 West/Morgan Street. Turn a slight right onto US-44. Continue 10.8 miles to follow US-44 West. End at 336 West Main Street.
From the South: Go West on Albany Turnpike (US-44, West Main Street, US-202) toward Woodford Avenue. End at 336 West Main Street.
