Classic New England "chowda"
The perfect Friday night supper.
Regionally acclaimed, straight from the gastronomic heart of New England we bring you Stonewall Kitchen New England Corn Chowder, ready to make an appearance this Friday night. It's a quick, nutritious and delicious. Add a salad and Stonewall Kitchen Cheddar Herb Biscuits and invite someone over for a New England style supper.
Air Freeze-Dried Corn, Rice, Onions, Celery, Carrots, Red Pepper, Chives and Herbs. NO Salt, MSG or Preservatives. Nutritional Information is based on dry mix only.
You will need: 2-3 white potatoes, 8 cups chicken broth, 2 cups heavy cream
Peel and dice potatoes. Place in 4 quart pot with chicken broth. Bring to boil. Add contents of soup package. Simmer for 30 minutes. Lower heat and add cream (or milk). Simmer on low 30 minutes longer until slightly thickened. When fresh corn is available, cut the kernels off several ears and set aside. Add cobs to the broth with the potatoes and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove cobs and add fresh corn with the cream.
For meatier chowder, add diced chicken breast or crabmeat. Garnish with grated Monterey Jack cheese and fresh Italian parsley.
This is a great product that I savor for at least one week without any added meat. Everyday the leftovers taste better. I make this product with half and half instead of cream to make it lighter. Superb product.
I bought this soup on a whim, and it has become a family favorite. The reaction from my family was over the top to any soup that I've made from scratch - a humbling experience!
WOW, this product is wonderful! I have bought other prepackaged soups before and this one is different. The dried spices, the vegetables, everything just comes together and makes a hearty tasting soup.
