Peppermint and candy canes have become synonymous with Christmas but have you ever wondered why the candy cane is shaped the way that it is? One story dates back to the 1600s when a choir master in Germany was looking for a way to keep some children quiet in a Nativity Scene during church. He had a candy maker create cane-shaped peppermint sticks to remind the children of the shepherd’s staff. Also, did you know that peppermint candy canes were originally all white? Today you can find peppermint candy in all shapes, colors and sizes and we thought it would be fun to share a couple of easy decorating ideas for your home using peppermint candy.

Peppermint Trees

  1. Purchase different sizes of white styrofoam cones at a craft store.
  2. Unwrap round peppermint candies.
  3. With a glue gun, attach the candy to the cones and create your own winter candy land.

Peppermint Candles

Again using a glue gun, attach peppermint candies to pillar candles for a fun and festive addition to your dining or coffee table.
