Cacciatore is an Italian word for hunter; its American translation refers to a rich "hunter-style" sauce. We slowly simmer plenty of vegetables like peppers, onions, capers and mushrooms into a hearty tomato base and accent it with an assortment of spices. Our robust mix of ingredients creates a rich and zesty sauce that perfectly complements chicken and pasta for a deliciously easy home-cooked meal.

Directions: Season 3 - 4 pounds chicken pieces with salt and pepper.Heat 2 Tablespoons olive oil and 1 Tablespoon butter in a large heavy straight sided saute pan over medium-high heat until it simmers. Add chicken pieces in small batches and cook until browned on all sides. Remove all but 2 Tablespoons of fat. Return chicken to pan and add one jar of Cacciatore Sauce. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 30 minutes. Remove lid and simmer an additional 15 minutes. Serve with rice or pasta. Serves 4-6.
