Our Story
1991
It all began at a farmers' market in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Our Humble Beginnings
From the start, Founders Jim Stott and Jonathan King wore many hats. Setting up shop in Jim’s family summer cottage, they spent endless hours cooking, hand-writing labels, taking photos, and selling products. Often it became a full family affair: nephews and nieces filled jars one-by-one, Jim’s 90-year-old grandmother, Pearl, helped glue burlap onto jar lids, and Jonathan’s mother worked as a store clerk.
The Original Recipe
“It’s inspired by my grandmother Pearl’s delicious blueberry pie,” says Jim. “I wanted to create the smell of her freshly baked pie filled with tasty, ripe blueberries. And we did just that. Every time I open our Wild Maine Blueberry Jam, I think of my grandmother.”

Stonewall Kitchen wins 'Best in Show.'
Over the years, we’ve received over 30 prestigious awards from the Specialty Food Association, including three Outstanding Product Line Honors. In 2015, Jonathan and Jim were even inducted into the Specialty Food Hall of Fame.
1998
We completed our first large-scale catalog mailing for the holiday season.
2000
Stonewall Kitchen moves to York, Maine.
Our headquarters and flagship Company Store have become one of the state’s largest tourist destinations. We welcome over 500,000 visitors each year!
2016
Stonewall Kitchen celebrates our 25th Anniversary!
2018
We welcome Tillen Farms, Montebello and Napa Valley Naturals to the Stonewall Kitchen family and launch co-branded line with Legal Sea Foods.
2019
We welcome Vermont Village to the Stonewall Kitchen family.
2020
We welcome Village Candle to the Stonewall Kitchen family and introduce Stonewall Home.
2021
Stonewall Kitchen Celebrates our 30th Anniversary!
We welcome Urban Accents, Vermont Coffee Company and Michel Design Works to the Stonewall Kitchen family.
